New opening of the biogas plant at Stord
Heygaz plans to start new production of climate- and environmentally friendly biogas in Stord municipality in spring 2026. During autumn 2025 and winter 2026, the biogas plant will undergo an extensive renovation to ensure stable operation and effective air purification.
The upgraded process will be an important contribution to the circular economy. Organic waste from fish farming, slaughterhouses and agriculture, among other things, will be utilized as a resource in the production of climate-friendly biogas. At the same time, the residual products from the process can be used as a nutrient-rich fertilizer product, so that valuable nutrients are returned to the cycle.
In this way, we create both renewable energy and sustainable solutions for waste management.
